The Christian Reformed Churches
of Whitinsville, Massachussetts

Pleasant Street church began with its first reading service on February 3, 1895. The group was declared a Christian Reformed congregation on September 7, 1896. In 1958 they planted a daughter church, Fairlawn CRC.

Since Whitinsville is relatively isolated from other Christian Reformed churches, the nearest being an hour away, this page looks at the larger two-church system. At present, the Fairlawn congregation is about 2/3 the size of the Pleasant Street church.

Daughter churches

Membership held by mother church until daughter church organized.

The above chart shows the total membership of the two congregations. This shows that the total number of Christian Reformed people on Whitinsville continued to grow for about 10 years after the Fairlawn church was organized.

Green (lower) line shows membership in families; blue (middle), professing members; red (top), total members; and magenta (thin), non-professing members.

The second chart shows total Christian Reformed membership in Whitinsville by membership category. Total membership peaked in the mid-1960s, declining as the number of non-professing members declined. Professing membership showed consistent growth through the late 1980s, but has been declining since.
